Primary School

The Russell Island State School office opens at 8:00 am each day. Students are expected to arrive at school between 8.30am and 8.40am each day and to attend every school day unless there is a genuine, communicated reason for absence. The school day concludes at 2.45pm.

8.45am	Class instruction commences - first session
10.45am	1st Break - (10 minutes eating, 30 minutes play time)
11.30am	Class instruction – middle session
1:15pm	2nd Break - (20 minutes play time, followed by 10 minutes eating time)
1.45pm	Class instruction – last session
2.45pm	Classes conclude (Crossing is open from 2:40pm-3:10Pm)

All parents and carers, please wait in undercover area to meet their child/ren.

Mrs Dobbie's Prep/1 parents/carers can wait outside the Prep/1 classroom.

Before and after school, the Playground area is out of bounds for everybody.

The school administration office closes at 3.30pm. We expect all students have departed the school by this time, unless they are participating in after school activities.

Student assembly is on Mondays at 2:00pm.

Kindergarten - Mrs Mohr and Miss Georgie

The Department of Education (the department) is committed to ensuring Queensland children and families have access to a kindergarten program wherever they live.

The department provides kindergarten programs in selected approved State Schools in communities where families would otherwise not have access to a kindergarten program. Kindergarten is proudly provided at our school 5 days per week. We offer an approved kindergarten program delivered by a qualified teacher to children who are at least four years old by 30 June in the year they start the program.

The kindergarten program at our school is currently operating Monday-Friday, 8:30am – 2:30pm, with two groups. Every Kindergarten attends Kindy 5 days a fortnight. Group 1 attends on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on the odd weeks of the school term and Monday and Tuesday of the even weeks. Group 2 attends the Wednesdays of the even weeks of term and every Thursday and Friday.
