RE: Covid-19 Update: Pupil Free next week.

Dear parents and caregivers,

I would like to thank our school community for their support during this unprecedented time. All staff have respected families’ decisions to self-isolate during this time to keep everyone safe.

The Queensland Government has today announced that an additional five (5) Student Free Days will be in place next week, from Monday 30 March to Friday 3 April inclusive. Russell Island staff will continue working on learning materials for the continuity of student learning for Term 2.

This means that Russell Island State School will remain open for children of essential workers. Essential workers are those that must currently continue to attend their workplace during this difficult time. This includes early childhood and school staff.

The Term 1 break will start early for students and they will not attend school next week, unless they are children of essential workers. State schools will be formally closed for the Term 1 break from the end of Friday, 3 April. Staff will return to work on Monday 20 April unless health advice determines otherwise.

This week we have sent home links to online learning resources. We have also sent home paper work packets so students can continue learning while they are at home.

If you cannot access online learning resources and have not yet received a paper work pack, please contact the school to organise one.

Yours sincerely

Jayne Barnett

Principal

Russell Island
