Dear Parents and Carers,

The annual Russell Island State School Cross Country will be held on Wednesday 26th August. All students in the school will be given the opportunity to run in this event. For your child to participate we require the relevant permission form to be returned. This permission form went home to all students during the week commencing Monday 22nd June. If you did not receive this form, please collect one from the school office.

If your child has expressed an interest in competing in the Cross Country event it is highly advised that your child completes training. The school will be offering training sessions at school on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:45am until 8:15am on the school oval commencing Tuesday 14th July. Miss Donna will meet the students in the lower undercover area.

Covid-19 restrictions only allows for no more than 100 people to attend an event, which means we have needed to make necessary changes to our usual running of our Cross Country. The changes we have made so this event can take place are -

  • course will only be on SCHOOL GROUNDS
  • NO parents/carers will be able to attend and support their children

All students turning 8 years (born2012), 9 years (born 2011), 10 years (born 2010), 11 years (born 2009), or 12 years (born 2008) will be competing for age champion medallions.

Unfortunately, a RISS School Cross Country Team will not be selected as the Bayside District Carnival will not take place due Covid-19 restrictions. We will however, acknowledge those students who would have qualified to represent our school.

Yours Sincerely

Jayne Barnett

Principal
